小山田 二郎

1914Born in Dandong City, Liaoning Province, China
1919Started studying transparent watercolor art under Japanese artist and distant relative, Tomoto Kobori
1934Enrolled at Musashino Art University Department of Art and Design to follow his artistic aspirations despite his father’s strong objections
1935Transferred to the Department of Western Painting without informing his father
1936His father discontinued support after finding out about the transfer, forcing Jiro to drop out
1945His Setagaya apartment was burned in an air raid, lost all his works
1952Married Kiku Shimane (later known as Chikae)
1971Suddenly disappeared from his house to live with a distant relative, The only contact with society until his death was at solo exhibition.
